Charles Pinkney Woods

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Charles Pinkney Woods, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born in Caldwell County on October 1, 1936 to the late Floyd Woods and Lucy Rader Woods. He was married to Lorraine Greene Woods, his wife of 40 years, of the residence. Mr. Woods graduated from Happy Valley High School and Appalachian State University. He retired from Caldwell County Schools after teaching for more than 35 years, primarily at Hibriten High School. Mr. Woods was a member and former deacon at Mulvale Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting knives and was an author for Knife World Magazine, writing under the pen name of Fred Steel. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, David Neal Woods and wife, Susan, of Greensboro and Dennis William Woods of Lenoir. A celebration of the life of Mr. Woods will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.
