Charles E. Martin

Charles Edward Martin “Charlie” went home to be the Lord on April 7, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Martin, his only child, Kimberly Martin Bailey (husband D. Scott Edwards), andher mother Marilyn Teague . He is also survived by his brother Jimmy Martin and his sister Pat Greene. Charles was the son of Ira Tildon Martin and Viola Griffith Martin who both preceded him in death. His siblings Nellie Snead, Helen Bouie, Donna Woods, Tommy Martin, Phillip Martin “Buck”, Billy Martin, Bobby Martin and John Martin all preceded him in death. What a joyous reunion they are having! Charles is survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.Charles loved country music, playing guitar and banjo with his bothers, and many Sunday afternoons were spent with our big family playing music and singing hymns. Charlie loved being a part of the “Hardee Gang”, a group of musicians that played at Hardees in Lenoir on Wednesdays. . He loved sports and was an avid North Carolina State University fan. Charlie and Joyce had a wonderful and caring marriage. The family will receive friends in the chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice And Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood St. Lenoir, NC 28645.
