Charles "Coot" Hood

Charles Hood Granite Falls-Mr. Charles, “Coot” Ervin Hood, age 72 passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2019, following a period of declining health. He was born in Caldwell County on May 21, 1946 to the late Gwyn Hood and Faye Lingle Hood. His loving wife of more than 54 years, Linda Hood preceded him in death on November 30, 2018. Charles was a devoted father and amazing grandfather, treasured by his family. Charles retired from Shuford Mills as a Plant Manager after 37 years, devoting more time and attention to grand parenting and his work with the Baton United Methodist Church Methodist Men. A long standing member of Baton United Methodist, he served in many roles and remained active as a trustee until just before his death. Well known for his generosity and faithfulness, Charles always found a way to serve the church and the community. Charles is survived by his daughters, Angela Curtis and husband Eugene of Beaver PA, Jackie Sigmon and husband Jeff of Granite Falls, brother Burl Hood of Granite Falls, grandchildren Dayton Sigmon and wife Trisha of Hickory, McAndrew Noonan of Annapolis MD, Devin Sigmon and fiancé Kristin Fox of Granite Falls, family friends and caregivers Buffy Baker and Jason Carpenter, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial and celebration of life service for Charles will be held on Sunday February 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm, at Baton United Methodist Church with Pastor Allen Boliek officiating.
