Mr. Charles “Charlie” Wilburn Suddreth, age 81, of Lenoir passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born November 25, 1937 in Caldwell County, Charlie was a son of the late Horace “Burt” and Addie Justice Suddreth.Charlie worked many years as a painter in Caldwell and surrounding counties.Charlie played Semi Pro Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. Through the years, Charlie played, coached and umpired numerous softball teams.He enjoyed racing with his son at Tri-County and Hickory Motor Speedways.He enjoyed all animals, especially his horse, Black Jack.In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Bean Suddreth; seven sisters, Clara Suddreth Coffey, Martha Suddreth Boness, Mary Suddreth, Gail Suddreth Hayes, Pat Suddreth Muma, Wilma Suddreth Vedok, and Helen Suddreth Mahaffy ; four brothers, Robert “Bob” Suddreth and Richard “Dick” Suddreth, William Suddreth and Nolan Suddreth. Survivors include his children; Angela “Angie” Suddreth Wise, Amy Suddreth, and Chuck Suddreth (wife Cindy); a sister, Shirley Suddreth Rolaff; five grandchildren, Morgan Elise Wise, Brittany Dean Suddreth, Nikki Brown, Ethan Younce and McKayla Coffey; he is also survived by four great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 3:00 PM at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Lambert and Pastor Larry Winkler officiating. Interment will follow at Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery on Orchard Drive. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN38105.
