Lenoir– Mr. Cecil Andrew Hartley, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at his residence surrounded by love with his family present. He was born in Caldwell County on November 5, 1940 to the late Will Lee Hartley and Edna Bowman Hartley. He was married to his loving wife, Mary Clay Hartley, for 51 years. Cecil rests from his labors. He went on to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus and rejoices now with all those who have gone before. God is good. Cecil was a long-time member of Littlejohn United Methodist Church and loved his church family. He was a loving husband, father and Papa. He had volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and helped build a home. He enjoyed classic cars, working outside around his house, traveling, and music. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Hartley; and his sisters, Ruth Oliver, Bernice Spears, and Della Mae Pilkenton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Cindy Hartley Wilson and husband, Scott; Kimberly Hartley Ester and husband, Chad; brother, James Hartley and wife, Marie; grandchildren, Eric Wilson; Brittney Wilson Baynard; Lauren Brooke Wilson; Kate Brooklyn Ester; Brody Harrison Ester; and numerous special nieces and nephews. A celebration of Cecil’s life will be held at Littlejohn United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Allen Boliek and Brother Kenneth Clay officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Clay, Damon Clay, Zachary Clay, Doug Hartley, Eric Wilson and Barry Triplett. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
