Lenoir, NC- Mr. Carter Pennington Coppage, age 77, of Coppage Farm Lane, the Grandin Community, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at Lenoir Health Care Center. Born December 9, 1928 in Caldwell County, Mr. Coppage was a son of the late Noble Pennington and Virginia Carter Coppage and husband of the late Norma Bean Coppage. Mr. Coppage was a retired farmer and member of Mariah?s Chapel Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Coppage-Traylor and husband William of Loveland, OH; Marjorie Coppage Kirby and husband Ricky of Hudson; one son, Noble B. Coppage and wife Christy of Lenoir and 5 grandchildren, Heather Kirby and Nicholas Kirby both of Hudson; Paxton Parlier and Grey Parlier both of Lenoir and Joshua Kirby of Hudson. Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-sister, Gladys Collier. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 8, 2006 at Mariah?s Chapel Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Howard, Reverend Mark Revel and Reverend Stuart White officiating. A private burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 7, 2006 from 7 until 9 PM at First Baptist Church-Whitnel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials being made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to Lenoir Health Care Center, 322 Nuway Circle, Lenoir, NC 28645.
