Carroll Dean Detter

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Carroll Dean Detter, age 71, of Lenoir, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born February 6, 1942 in Cleveland County, Mr. Detter was a son of the late William Guy and Cora Martin Detter and the husband of Mrs. Shirley Setzer Detter of the home. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Vale and was a truck driver. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Grady Detter and Herbert Detter and sister, Marie Parker. Surviving other than his wife Shirley are two children, LaDonna Detter Beard and Robert “Robbie” Detter and Step-Son, David Hoyle and wife Cathy; one sister, Edith Wise; 4 Grandchildren, Garrett Beard, Andrea Detter, Erin Detter, William Detter, Hannah Detter and 2 Step-Grandchildren, Jonathan Hoyle and Stacy Hoyle. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Vale with Pastor Jeremy MaHaffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00, one hour prior to the service at the church.
