Carolyn Allen Handy

Lenoir – Carolyn Allen Handy, age 75, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 as result of an auto accident.Born September 4, 1938 in Ashe County, she was a daughter of the late Tway and Mary Osborne Allen and the wife of the late Guy Handy. Mrs. Handy was a member of The Lenoir Wesleyan Church.She was a seamstress, an avid reader and loved gardening.She helped raise many children over the years with her in home day care, to most she will be remembered as “Maw Maw”. In most recent years she worked as a sales associate at Medical Arts Pharmacy in Lenoir. Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sabrina Faith Handy, grandson, Dillon Mitchell, great-grandson, Carson William Handy, two brothers, Robert Leslie Allen and Harold Dean Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Mitchell of Morganton; her brother, Ernie Allen and wife Regina of Lenoir, one grandson, Anthony Frasca of Morganton and her “adopted daughter”, Revonda Oliver. A celebration of Mrs. Handy’s life will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend James Baker officiating.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 3:15 PM prior to the service.
