Calvin Dula, 67, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2023 while praising the Lord in song at First Church of God. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five and a half years Marlene Ferguson Dula, two sons Calvin (Maurice) Dula (Shannon) and Brandon L. Dula (Tera), one granddaughter Gabby Dula, two brothers William V. Dula, Jr. and Dwight D. Dula, two sisters Lucille (Denise) Dula and Annette R. Dula and nephews and nieces and great nephews and great nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, William V. Dula, Sr. and Lucille R. Dula and two brothers, Donald L. Dula and Ronald G. Dula. He was born on April 17, 1955 to the late William V. Dula, Sr. and Lucille R. Dula. He graduated from Hudson high School in 1973. There he played four years of football and was a shot putter. He was a graduate of North Carolina A & T State University of Greensboro, NC with a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts with a minor in Manufacturing. He was on the Wrestling team in college. He served in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. He was a M60 Tank Commander at Fort Knox Kentucky where he was in charge of five tanks. He was in the Army ROTC for three years. He worked for the City of Lenoir Waste Water Treatment Plant for 30 years. He was a devoted husband and father. As well as a dedicated Christian church member of Dulatown Presbyterian Church. He was a part of many offices and committees in the church: Elder, Trustee, Deacon, President of the Men’s Council, Usher Board, Food Pantry Committee, Finance Committee, Graveyard Committee and church choir. He was also a Sunday School teacher for 25 years. He loved spending time with family, singing praises with the church choir, a huge fan of football and basketball, cooking, gardening and befriended everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A Memorial service will be held at Dulatown Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
