Butch Tja-A-Lien

Derick L. “Butch” Tja-a-lien, age 62, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. He was born in Caldwell County on January 12, 1956 to the late Barbara Michaux and Charlie Suddreth. Butch was well known in his neighborhood for willing to help other people with his handyman skills. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Terri Mitchell and Iris Tja-a-lien; and his nephew, Cleveland Mithcell. Butch is survived by his daughter, Kendra Bowers; sisters, Wongalee Thomas and husband, Alvin; and Tydina Dula; brother, Charlie Scott; twin sisters, Nyiesa Rinehart and Shire Rinehart; girlfriend, Shirley Banner; grandchildren, Brayden Ferguson and Adaya Bowers; one great-granddaughter, Kinsley Bowers and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Butch will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.
