Buddy Lee Smith

Lenoir – Reverend Buddy Lee Smith, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Shaire Center. He was born in Pickens County, SC on September 4, 1931 to the late Robert G. Smith and Gladys Crane Smith. Reverend Smith was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. During his 58 years of ministry he pastored three churches with the last 38 years of his ministry spent at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris Dillard Smith and his brother, Bob Smith. Reverend Smith is survived by his children, Dr. Robert Lee Smith and wife, Cathy of Boiling Springs, SC; Ann Phillips and husband, Reverend Kevin Phillips of Lenoir; Lynne Griffith and husband, Reverend Steve Griffith of Cowpens, SC; Kimberly Bryson and husband, Reverend Randy Bryson of Easley, SC; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, LoraEtta Riggins of Easley, SC; and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Reverend Smith’s life will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Robert Lee Smith, Reverend John Parker and Dr. Joe Arthur officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
