Brenda Joyce Richardson

On October 27, 2022, Brenda Joyce Lynch Richardson passed away at 80 years old at the Hospice Patient Care Unit in Hudson, NC. Born to Emerson & Mozelle Lynch in Henrietta, NC, Brenda went on to graduate from Appalachian State University with a B.S. degree in Education. She taught high school at Hudson High School and later at South Caldwell High School where she finished her 30-year career. Following her retirement, she worked for South Caldwell Christian Ministries. Brenda taught many students in her 30-year career and she made a difference to all of them. She went beyond just teaching keyboarding or computer skills, as she was always available to offer advice or to just listen when they needed someone to talk to. Brenda truly was a friend to all who worked with her or even just knew her. She never met a stranger and she was always thoughtful and cared so much for those who were important to her - and that list was long. Family was also important to Brenda, and her two grandchildren topped that list. She was so proud of them and loved watching them grow up into wonderful young adults. Anyone who knew Brenda knows that her lifelong love for cats was a big part of who she was. She had many cats in her life who were great companions for her throughout many different phases of her life. Brenda was such a special woman and her sense of humor, her infectious laugh, and her caring nature will be missed by everyone. Brenda was survived by her daughter, Johnna (Justin) Matthews of West Jefferson, her grandson, Jackson Lynch Matthews of West Jefferson, and her granddaughter, Jillian Day Matthews of Boone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Mozelle Lynch. There will be a visitation service on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 4:00 - 7:00pm at Evans Funeral Home, 1070 Taylorsville Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645.
