Brenda Pritchard Hartley

Lenoir- Brenda Pritchard Hartley, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2019, while surrounded by her family. Brenda was born on September 19, 1949, in Lenoir, NC, the daughter of H.A. and Juanita Pritchard. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Martha. She is survived by her husband, Gary Hartley, daughter Erica Hartley, son Jonathan Hartley and wife, Janna, and granddaughter Havanna, sister, Sandra Pritchard, niece Meredith Cline, and grand-niece Reagan Cline. Brenda enjoyed a beautiful life as a dedicated teacher, a compassionate mother, wife and friend, while inspiring us all through her vocal performances. Brenda graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. Her passion for teaching was felt across generations of students and student teachers. She retired from Whitnel Elementary School after 30 years of service. Brenda sung at events across the community, performed in musical theater productions, musical ensembles, and spent decades sharing her gift as a faithful member of the Chancel Choir at First United Methodist Church in Lenoir. As a former Miss Lenoir, she developed an enthusiasm for serving her community. This commitment continued as a member of various civic clubs and organizations such as the Lenoir Service League, the Caldwell Arts Council, and the Lenoir Jaycettes. In recent years, Brenda loved spending time with her friends and family, and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Havanna. Please join us for a celebration of her life at First United Methodist Church of Lenoir on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dave Melton and Reverend Marietta Smith officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Life Center.
