Granite Falls, NC- Mr. Boyd “Bud” Alexander Tolbert, age 71, of Granite Falls, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born September 22, 1939 in Watauga County, Mr. Tolbert was a son of the late Jiles Dow and Bernice Hartley Tolbert and the husband of Ersula “Sue” Bishop Tolbert of the home. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ernestine Edmisten and nephew, Sonny Bolick. Surviving other than his wife are his children, Crystal Tolbert Hamby and boyfriend Luis Martinez; Tracy Tolbert Williams and husband Chad, Sandra Tolbert and fiancé Ryan Haas; Siblings; Joyce Bolick of Lenoir; Ruth Watson of Maryland; Lee Walsh of South Carolina; Katherine Anderson of Maryland; Grace McLemore of Hickory; Ellen Shell and Loyd Tolbert, both of Lenoir; 3 grandchildren, Nichole Hamby, Jessica Dowling and Lukas Haas; 1 step-grandson, Caleb Williams; 4 great-grandchildren, Hunter Hamby, Jonathan Willis, Payton Willis, Steven Willis and Boyd’s best friend, his dog “Buddy”. A celebration of “Bud’s “ life will be held 1:30 Monday, November 15, 2010 in the chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Raymond Spann and Pastor Steve Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 on Monday, prior to the service.
