Lenoir- Mrs. Bonnie Herman Hendrix, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on September 1, 1930 to the late Fred and Ila Herman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred Hendrix. Mrs. Hendrix graduated from Hudson High School in 1949 and went on to graduate from Mission Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1952. She worked at the former Dula Hospital in Lenoir for 10 years and Caldwell Memorial Hospital for 30 years. She was a caregiver to many of her family members over the years. Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her daughter, Beth Cook and husband Jeff; grandson, Jonathan Cook (Taylor Hudgins); great-grandchildren, Paisley Cook and Piper Tarr; brothers, Jim Herman and wife, Judy; Dennis Herman and wife, Betsy; and sister, Brenda Kanipe; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Hendrix’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson with Pastor Stephen Owen officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC28645 or to Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 1787 Cajah Mountain Road, Hudson, NC28638.
