Bob Layne Hendrickson

Mr. Bobby Layne Hendrickson, age 88, of Benton, KY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law in Taylorsville, NC where he had been residing for the last nine months.

“Bobby Layne” was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. He was a certified pipefitter, millwright, machinist, welder, and electrician who enjoyed building and drag racing hot-rod Chevys, UK basketball, and eating breakfast at Hutchens BBQ with his friends. He was also an extremely talented artist who, like his sister, was capable of rendering photo-realistic pencil drawings.

Mr. Hendrickson is survived by his son, K. Layne (wife Judy) Hendrickson of Blowing Rock, NC, three stepdaughters; Debbie (husband Daryl) Lindsey of Benton, KY, Linda (husband Terry) Mathis of Metropolis, IL, and Amy (husband David) Wolff of Gilbertsville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents Solon and Helen Hendrickson, née Lamb, sister Darla Culp, née Hendrickson, first wife Janice Lane Hendrickson, née Gordon, sons Jordon Scott Hendrickson and Glen Bradley Hendrickson, and second wife Jeanette Hendrickson, née Houser.

Per his wishes, a family remembrance service for the spreading of his ashes will be conducted at Ford Cemetery in Benton, KY at a later date yet to be determined.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Ford Cemetery in Benton, KY, or the American Cancer Society.
