Billy Gene Wilcox

Billy Gene Wilcox, age 78, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Watauga County on December 25, 1944 to the late Vance Wilcox and Dessie Norris Wilcox. Billy was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Agnes, wonderful father to his daughter Samantha and adoring PawPaw to his one and only granddaughter, Heather. Billy retired from Broyhill Furniture’s Pacemaker Plant after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and working on lawn mowers. In addition to his parents and wife, Agnes Bradshaw Wilcox, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Clifford, Clyde, Grady, and Otis Wilcox; and his sisters, Edna, Viola and Annie Mae. Billy is survived by his daughter, Samantha Lewis and husband, David; granddaughter, Heather Lewis; brothers, Lee Wilcox and wife, Rosie; Hoover Wilcox and wife, Gail; sister, Linda Hendrix and husband, Junior; brother-in-law, Gaither Bradshaw; also numerous other family members and his fur baby cat, Smokey. A graveside celebration of Billy’s life will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Russell Cook officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Army.
