Billy Joe Smith

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Billy Joe Smith, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Smith was born in Avery County on July 5, 1940 to the late Jack Smith and Hazel Taylor Smith. He was married to Margaret Puett Smith of the home. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Bill loved riding motorcycles, NASCAR and anything with wheels. He was a truck driver for 40 years and will be remembered for his interesting sense of humor. Other than his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kelly Smith, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Rachel Smith, both of Lenoir. A memorial service celebrating Bill̢۪s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jerry Woodie and Reverend Sam Craven officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
