Lenoir - Our Daddy, Billy Eugene Setzer entered eternal life on Saturday, June 19th, 2016. His spirit is carried on by us his 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Before we were around, Daddy enjoyed the glee club and driving a school bus in high school (this is where he met our mom, Gwen). Two weeks after graduation he and mom married. He worked at the local grill as a car hop and joined the National Guard (in the kitchen of course). When you were around “Daddy” or “Papaw”, you could always count on a couple of things; you were going to laugh, sing or eat (probably all 3)! His passions in life were his family, his food (especially the hot peppers in his shirt pocket), singing, and his cars. As children of Bill, we enjoyed the restaurant life at Carolina Restaurant in Lenoir for over 25 years. The three of us waited and cleaned tables and the front counter substituted as our family supper table. He was a great provider and we never wanted for anything. There was always a car (or 10) for us to cruise in and the more friends we brought home with us the better! His grandchildren will always remember all the goofy faces, funny songs and “papaw-isms” that made them laugh with each visit. We all know that without a doubt Daddy could not be happier right now. He is with his Lord and his wife Gwen. He adored our mom for 56 years on this earth and now they enjoy their Mansion Over the Hilltop for eternity. Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Setzer; his brothers, Herbert and Raymond Setzer and his sister, Betty Setzer. Our Dad is survived by us, Gena, Todd and Teresa and their families:Gena Triplett and husband Neal; children, Taryn Wallace and husband Jeff; their daughter Marler; Trevin and Tanner Triplett of Holly Springs, NC; Todd Setzer and wife Tracy; Sara Turner and husband Travis; their son Mason of Hickory, NC; daughter, Sidney Gilliam and husband, John of Weaverville;Teresa Zell and husband Gary; children, Cameron, Bryce and Avery of Ringoes, NJ. A celebration of Mr. Setzer’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Walsh officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
