Lenoir, NC- Billy Eugene Heffner of Lenoir, NC passed away after an extended illness on October 19, 2009. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. Born and raised in Caldwell County, then to serve in the United States Navy for four years. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Mary Loretta Greene and raised three daughters, Jennifer, Susan and Stacey. He was loved, respected and idolized by his family. He was extremely hard working and driven, which was the force which pushed him to start his own plumbing business. He was always the friendly face with a joke following, not to mention the mischievous grin. No one will ever know what he gave back to his fellow man. He helped those who could not afford his services and told them ?I will catch up with you later?. That later never came but it brought him more joy than words can express. He was a committed Christian who enjoyed gospel music and his church family at Calvary Advent Christian Church. He was a great family man who enjoyed watching his daughters turn into women and then go on to see them have children of their own. He was a firm believer of visitation and making a difference with people while you had them in your life?he was always just a phone call away. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Loretta Heffner of Lenoir; three children, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Taylor (Jennifer) of Lenoir, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan McCrarey ( Susan) of Granite Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Akram Abboud (Stacey) of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Ashley Taylor of Lenoir, Justin Taylor of Lenoir and Zachariah Abboud of Raleigh, NC; he was also blessed by a great-granddaughter, Reagan Taylor of Lenoir; he is also survived by one sister, Kathleen Cardwell of Lenoir; many nieces, nephews and cousins are left to remember Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Heffner of Lenoir; also preceded by his siblings, Hubert ?Mutt? Heffner, Robert ?Handle? Heffner, Peggy Moore, and Betty Minton, all of Lenoir, NC. Bill touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Remember Bill how he once was and the life and vitality that he possessed. An empty space will remain in our hearts for no-one will ever be able to take his place. A celebration of Billy?s life will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Calvary Advent Christian Church with Reverend Jim Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Pallbearers will be: Bobby McGee, Bobby Hodges, Randy German, Mark Miller, Billy Long and Richard Andrews.
