Billy Ray Greene

Hudson, NC- Mr. Billy ?Bill? Ray Greene, age 70, of Hudson, died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Select Specialties Hospital in Winston-Salem. Born September 1, 1939 in Caldwell County, Mr. Greene was a son of the late Rhonda Greene and Vennie Hamby Caldwell. Mr. Greene was a self-employed truck driver and a member of Poovey?s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a wonderful ?Papa? and loved to cook. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Burley Caldwell and his brother, Timmy Greene. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Ekard Greene, of the home; his Step-Mother, Sara Rimer of Lexington, SC; 2 daughters, Ann Fillers and husband J.D. and Billie Price and husband Michael all of Lenoir; 3 Granddaughters, Angie Tate and husband Billy; Jessica Hart and husband Randy; Chelsea Price; 4 Great-Grandsons; 2 Great-Granddaughters, 4 sisters, one brother and numerous other relatives. He is also survived by his dog, Tippy. A celebration of Mr. Greene?s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Poovey?s Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Nicky Waters officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:30 PM at Poovey?s Chapel Baptist Church.
