Bill Johnson

William M. Johnson, age 79, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on November 4, 1943 to the late Laverne Johnson and Patsy Moore Johnson. He was married to Iva Warlick Johnson of the residence for 60 years.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a charter member and former President of North Catawba Optimist Club. Bill spent more than 45 years coaching kids and providing for the needs of those less fortunate than others. He served as a mentor, providing more than typical coaches.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Billy Johnson, and his sisters, Judy Haigler and Ann Jacobs.

Other than his wife, Bill is survived by his son, Andy Johnson and wife, Sheila; Michael Johnson; grandchildren, Lacy Wilson; Kirsten Taylor; Drew Johnson; Jordan Travis and family; Jack Travis and Jack Travis and family; great-grandchildren, Raylen Wilson; Maggie Wilson; Blake Taylor; and Cash Taylor; sister, Carolyn Plaster; and numerous other family members.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at North Catawba Optimist Ball Field on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 3:00 PM. The facilities will be open and lawn chairs are recommended.
