Betty Louise Powell

Lenoir -Betty Louise Dula Powell, age 86, passed away Monday January 11, 2021. She was born March 4, 1934 in Caldwell County to the late Frank (Buss) and Naomi Dula. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Powell; one daughter Janice Powell; eleven brothers, Benjamin, Nathaniel, David, Richard, Frank, Agron, Ray, Dearmont, Roger, Johnny, and Randolph; four sisters, Thelma, Sarah, Brenda, and Mabel. She was the matriarch of her family and lit up any room that she entered in. Betty taught her family about perseverance and to never give up. This is one of the many life lessons Betty instilled in her family. She was referred to as “Maw” to everyone, even those she was not related to. She also loved spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children; Joella Michaux, Clyde Powell, Angelic Wilkins (Willie), Brenda Hendrix (Thomas), and Simon Powell (Tasha); Sister-in-Laws, Mother Corinthia Dula, Ruth Dula, Johnnie Mae Dula, Floretta Dula, and Irma Dula; 19 Grandchildren; 34 Great-Grandchildren; 14 Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces and Nephews. Due to COVID-19, the family will not be hosting a funeral service or receiving at the home; however, they would like to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences. Betty’s family will miss her, but they rejoice in knowing that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with Jesus.
