Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Betty Paulette Herman Church, age 58, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born August 7, 1952 in Catawba County, Mrs. Church was a daughter of the late Paul Winfred Herman and Betty Faye Hass Herman Frye. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Herman and sister Kim Frye Shelton. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Mrs. Church was an active member of Buffalo Cove Baptist Church where she served as youth leader. She was a graduate of Hildebran High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. She was a registered nurse and had worked with Caldwell Memorial Hospital and Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was an active volunteer with Happy Valley Elementary School. Mrs. Church will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Gary T. Church; a son, Thomas Gary Church and wife Jennifer of Lenoir; daughter, Paula Church Whisnant and husband Roger of Lenoir; brother-in-law, Eddie Shelton of Hildebran; sister, Tracy Frye Baker and husband Michael of Morganton; brother, Eric Raymond Frye of Long View; and the love and pride of her life, her grandchildren, Christian, Trinity, Gracie, Hadyn and Savanah. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous life-long friends. A celebration of Mrs. Church’s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Buffalo Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Helton and Reverend Simmeron Hamby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2011 from 6:30 until 8:30 at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir and other times at the home of Paula and Roger Whisnant, 1672 Riverside Drive, Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Chris Hawkins, Jason Pennell, Michael Detter, Michael Wilson, Tim Dunn, Eddie Anderson, Bud Davis and Eddie Shelton. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jim Bingham, Travis Coffey and Junior Hamby. The family respectfully requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
