Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Bessie Parton Sutton, age 89, of Lenoir, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born January 26, 1920 in Waynesville, NC, Mrs. Sutton was a daughter of the late Coleman B. and Ida Moody Parton and the wife of the late Howard E. Sutton. Mrs. Sutton was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Marvin and Richard Parton and 3 sisters, Alma Caldwell, Jean Lowe and Dorothy Harriger. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Day of Hudson; one son, Howard J. Sutton and wife Linda of Lenoir; one sister, Mrs. Darrell Rogers (Ruby) of Waynesville; 5 grandchildren, Anita Church and husband Mack of Granite Falls; Mike Sutton of Lenoir; Geoff Day and wife Angie of Hudson; Andy Day and wife Donna of Hudson; Reginald Day and wife Brandy of Lenoir; 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Sutton?s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2009 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Nicky Waters, Reverend Bobby Pritchard and Reverend Mark Dula officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM, prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service.
