Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Bessie Blanch Chester, age 95, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Caldwell County on January 20,1918 to the late Reese Clippard and Sally Keller Clippard. She was married to Paul Relphard Chester for more than 70 years. Mrs. Chester was a dedicated wife, mother, and had a special way with children. Her hobbies included gardening, growing flowers and quilting. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Rufus Clippard, Ralph Clippard, Marshall Clippard, Doc Clippard, Jane Clippard Hartley, Lon Clippard, and Hester Clippard Enloe. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Donald  Chester and wife, Ruby; David Chester and wife, Mary; Bradford Chester and wife, Ann; Edward Chester, and wife, Tonya; daughters, Blanch Miller; Ruby Chester; Helen Arney and husband, Dennis; Linda Shoun and husband, Frank; Ruth Chester and spouse, Ernest; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Chester’s life will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 18, 2013 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Gary Waters officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Allen Kidd, Gary Shivers, Tyler Shivers, Josh Cole, David Miller, Joe Shivers, and Curtis Gaines.
