Benny Wayne Smith

Benny Wayne Smith, 69 of Granite Falls, NC went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2023 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Benny was born on July 31, 1953 to the late Loland “Bud” Elbert Smith and Thelma Pritchard Garland.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Danny Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gail; his daughter, Adrian Smith (Brian Shook); son, Dustin Smith (Alicia); his grandchildren Dustin and David Shook, Kayla, Hunter and Alexa Townsend and Deegan Smith; a special God-Daughter, Lauren Huffman; his fur babies, Ophelia and Sophie; sister, Cathy Morin; brothers Loland “Sam” Smith, Jr. and Jason Smith; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Benny enjoyed fishing of any kind and doing community theater, baseball and softball, coaching, spending time with his dogs, camping and his corvette.    He also enjoyed spending time with his EZ Way Auto and Church family.  He was a member of Living Hope Church where he enjoyed welcoming church goers with a smile and a handshake.

A memorial service celebrating Benny’s life will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Living Hope Church at 4:00 PM.  Officiating will be Pastor Keith Gilliam.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
