Barry Michael Thomas

Barry Michael Thomas, age 58 passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2014.He was born in Caldwell County on February 3, 1956 to Francis Thomas and the late Sue Parton Thomas. Barry worked for 34 years at Lenoir Mirror.He loved being outdoors. Gardening, hunting, and fishing were activities he enjoyed. He also greatly enjoyed camping in the mountains with his family. Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Myrtle and Lester Parton; paternal grandmother, Mabel Thomas; and brother, Philip Thomas. In addition to his father, Barry is survived by his life-partner of nearly 30 years, Barbara Hollar; son, Brandon Thomas and wife, Teresa; brothers Mark Thomas and Kevin Thomas and wife, Wendy; sister, Lisa Barber; grandsons Jacob Thomas and Isaiah Thomas; and his nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Mr. Thomas’ life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 6, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Parton, Steve Williams, Alfred Hollar, James Hendrix, Junior Hendrix and Brian Dula. Freddy Hollar will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family respectfully requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
