Barbara Walsh Sides

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Walsh Sides announces her passing on January 26, 2022 at the age of 76 years old. Barbara will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She had a strong Christian faith, was passionate about her love of the Lord and was a blessing to all in being able to lift others spirits. Barbara was devoted to all her family.She was a provider, selflessly making sure that her family had what they needed.She never forgot a birthday and was always the first to send a card in the mail so that it arrived early or on the day.Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered. Barbara was born on September 1, 1945. She is preceded in death by her dear mother, Ada Barrier, stepfather, Oliver Barrier, twin brother and sister, Jerry and Geraldine Walsh. Survivors include her husband, Cary Wayne Sides of the home; three children, Phyllis Doreen Byrd of Morganton, NC, Marsha Lynn Graham and husband Michael of New Salem, NC, and Steven Roy Byrd of Lenoir, NC; her sister, Linda Spears and husband Kevin of Granite Falls, NC; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amy, Christina, Nelson and Davis; five great grandchildren, Ella, Brennan, Lawson, Hudson and Abagail, and several special nephews, nieces, and extended family. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Dr. James W. Hathorn and the McCreary Cancer Center staff for all their compassionate care and support over the past several years. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army via their website. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church in Boone, NC with grandson, Rev. Jeffrey Steven Smith officiating.
