Barbara Eller Prestwood

Barbara Eller Prestwood, 93, of Lenoir went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at her residence. She was born on December 8, 1929 to her late parents Maynard Lee Eller, Sr. and Madge Kirby Eller.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a faithful Christian woman, with a servant’s heart, who dedicated her life to serving others. She will always be remembered for her faithful service to the Lord and others.

She was a proud graduate of Hudson High School, where she attended 12 years with perfect attendance. She worked as a Secretary at Broyhill Furniture main office for 41 years. She also worked at her family business Prestwood Construction as Office Manager for over 60 years. Barbara was saved at a young age at Sardis Baptist Church of Hudson. She later became a member of Whitnel United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer and many other various positions.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Max G. Prestwood Sr. and her sisters; Doris Craig, Shirley Eller, Martha Bumgarner, and brothers; Maynard Eller Jr. and Albert Wayne Eller. Survivors include a son; Max G. Prestwood Jr., and wife Sandy of Lenoir, daughter; Jan Prestwood of Lenoir, grandsons; Max G. Prestwood III and wife Jessica of Lenoir, Mitchell Prestwood and Michael Prestwood, both of Lenoir, great grandchildren; Max G. Prestwood IV and Linzie Prestwood; sister Polly Rogers of Florida; brothers, James Eller Sr. and wife Elaine of Hudson; Horace Eller of Hudson; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jim Evans and Pastor Daniel Buchanan officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Colliers United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Max G. Prestwood Jr., Max G. Prestwood III, Mitchell Prestwood, Michael Prestwood, Todd Bumgarner and James Eller Jr.
