Barbara Jean Pennell

Barbara Jean Pennell, 85, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025.

Barbara was born on May 10, 1939, to the late Arthur and Mertie Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pennell, daughter, Teresa Hartley; and great grandson, Oliver Johnson.

Those left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her sons, Ronald Pennell, Mark Pennell; Kimberly Hartley, Spring Price (Ernie), Kerbey Welch (Thomas), Carman Pennell  (Vince), Courtney Cox (Mark); great grandchildren, Alex Price, Alice Price, Hermione DeOca, Adrianna DeOca, brother, Gary Johnson, son in law, Mike Hartley and numerous relatives.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She took great pride in caring for her family.  She was a spitfire of a lady.  She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

A service to honor Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans with Michael Church officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the chapel of Evans.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

Serving as pallbearers are Mark Cox, Vince DeOca, Alex Price, Ernie Price, Billy Price and Evan Shatley. Evans Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Barbara Jean Pennell.
