Hudson, NC- Mr. Avery Allen Snyder, age 87, of Hudson, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 23, 2007. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was born September 7, 1920 in Watauga County. Mr. Snyder was a son of the late Wilburn E. and Alma Warren Snyder and the husband of his loving wife, Ruth Shuford Snyder of the home, to whom he was married for 55 years. Mr. Snyder was a member of Dry Ponds Baptist Church and was retired from Bernhardt Furniture. Other than his wife, he is survived by 4 sons, Danny Snyder and wife Margaret; Joe Howard Snyder and wife Caroline; Steve Snyder and wife Judy, all of Lenoir, Clifton Snyder and wife Susan of Calhoun, TN; 2 daughters, Joy Sims and husband Kermit of Haynes City, FL; Jewel Clark and husband Roger of Bethlehem; one sister, Alice Potter of Tamarack; 2 sisters-in-law, Chloe Snyder and Louise Snyder both of Lenoir; one brother-in-law, Ralph Shumake of West Jefferson; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and his very special loving dog, Peanut. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bill, Loyd and Wade Snyder and 4 sisters, Ema Snyder Shumake, Ola Hunt, Grace Chester and Marie German. A celebration of Mr. Snyder?s life will be held 3:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2007 at Dry Ponds Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Crouse, Reverend Simeron Hamby and Reverend Audley Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Mr. Snyder?s grandsons.
