Arthur Eugene Corpening Sr., age 70, of Lenoir, North Carolina transitioned into his Heavenly Home on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Hudson surrounded by his family.He was born November 17, 1948 in Forsyth County, North Carolina to the late Archie Arthur Corpening and Gladys Hood White. He was also dearly loved by his parents Clyde White and Overseer Irene M. Corpening.In addition, he was preceded in death by Archie Arthur Corpening, Gladys Hood White, Clyde White one son, Shayne Anthony Corpening; three brothers, Johnny Corpening, Isaiah Hood, John White and two sisters, Juristine Caldwell and Joyce Corpening. Survivors include his lifetime companion and wife of 50+ years, Mrs. Linda Daniels Corpening of the home; daughter Dee Dee (Donna) Corpening Jackson and husband Jeffery of Atlanta, GA; son, Arthur Eugene Corpening Jr. of Tampa, Florida; son, Shawn Maurice Corpening of Maiden, North Carolina; daughter, Melissa Joy (Lucy) Corpening of Lenoir, North Carolina; daughter, Adrianna Seymone “Doo Hickey” Corpening of Lenoir, North Carolina; son, Jayson Christopher Corpening of Lenoir, North Carolina; four brothers, James Corpening of Statesville, North Carolina Melvin Corpening and wife Leslie of Salt Lake City, Utah, Pastor Elect Jackie Corpening and wife First Lady Elect Tammy of Hinesville, Georgia, Michael Corpening and wife Jennifer of Lenoir, North Carolina; six sisters, Assistant Pastor Corinthia Dula and husband Roger of Lenoir, North Carolina, Rosemarie Hood of Lenoir, North Carolina; Jeanette Buie and husband Pastor Billy Buie of Sanford, North Carolina; Joann Froneberger and husband Wesley of Charlotte, North Carolina; Rebecca White and Bonita White both of Lenoir, North Carolina;three special nieces, Irene Caldwell, Carrie Foddrell and Crissy Wesson; two bonus daughters, Yvette Logan & Jody Fields; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two aunts, Charlotte Hood and Faye Hood, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. Mr. Corpening was educated in the Caldwell County School System. He was a former furniture worker and worked for The City of Lenoir and Town of Valdese. His last and beloved job was working at his son’s daycare and being surrounded by the loving children and was known as PawPaw Gene. He was an Honorary Deacon and member at Bibleway #3 of Lenoir, North Carolina.He loved to shoot pool, hunt, karate and to watch Westerns, but most of all he loved to witness about his faith in God. Arthur Eugene Corpening, Sr. was absolutely one of the great comeback stories. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Bibleway #3 at 5:00 PM with Pastor Elect Jackie Corpening officiating.The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home, 722 Hillcrest Street, Northwest, Lenoir, North Carolina, 28645.Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Corpening’s nephews and the flower bearers will be his nieces. Flowers will be accepted or monetary donations can be made to the family at 722 Hillcrest Street, Northwest, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645 or memorials to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645.
