Hudson – Arnold Wilson Bryant, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 26, 2021 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. He was born in Caldwell County on June 24, 1931 to the late Romie and Ennis Laws Bryant. Arnold loved to fish and camp. He was once involved in drag racing and stock car racing as a mechanic and engine builder. He never lost his love of racing and watched NASCAR every week. He and his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret, and brother-in-law, Frank Harklerode were previous owners of Arnold’s Muffler Shop in Lenoir. He enjoyed to travel and was ready to go at a moment’s notice, but his happiest times were spent with his family. Arnold was a member of First Baptist Church Hudson where he grew many friendships. In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by the love of his life, Margaret; sister, Mary Bryant; “special brother”, Frank Harklerode; grandson, Jason Story; and sons-in law, Paul Turner and Butch Smith. Arnold is survived by his daughters, Peggy Long and husband, Lonnie; Martha Turner; Becky Linn; Kay Smith; son, Fred Moody; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; special cousin, Allen Laws; and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 2:00 until 3:00 at First Baptist Church Hudson, followed by a celebration of his life at 3:00 PM.
