Arlie Greene

May 19, 1945 — May 17, 2024

Arlie J. Greene, age 78 of Fairway Acres Circle, Lenoir, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday May 17th, 2024 at Amorem Hospice and Pallative Care in Hudson, N.C. He was born May 19th, 1945 in Watauga County to the late Louise Watson Greene. In addition to his mother, he is preceeded in death by his brother Steven Samuel Greene and sister Peggy Greene. He has one other sister, Judy Greene Warren.

Arlie was the sole owner of Greene’s Tree Service in Lenoir for over 35 years. He was later employed by Savannah Rose Timber and worked along side his son, Todd Alan Greene until he retired in 2008.

Arlie was a devoted, selfless man that truly loved his family. His greatest desire in life was to serve the Lord and show God’s love to others. He attended Central Baptist Church and served as a deacon under the leadership of the late Rev. Hugh Kincaid. He was a charter member and deacon of New Life Baptist Church of Lenoir and lastly served as a charter member and deacon of Samaritan Christian Fellowship of Lenoir. He and his wife, Brenda hosted many missionaries in their home as well as hosting a home church for Samaritan Christian Fellowship the last 15 years. Through the years, they were personally involved and supported many missionaries in the field through medical missions in Africa, India, Mexico, Indonesia, China and state side. Together, they enjoyed laying up treasures in heaven. They believed whole heartedly Matthew 6:19-21 “Lay not for yourselves treasures upon earth…But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust can corrupt. For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.”

He was an avid deer, squirrel and turkey hunter. He shared countless hunting stories with whoever would listen. In his retirement years, He grew a large garden, loved picking blackberries and canned everything he possibly could. He wanted to be able to share his harvest with family and friends along the way. He also loved serving others by mowing grass, doing yard work and sharing the love of Jesus. Arlie was always excited to share his spiritual birthdate of May 13th, 1970. His favorite verse that he quoted often was Jeremiah 33:3, “Call upon me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” He then would add “Is there anything too hard for the Lord?! NO! Nothing is too hard for the Lord!”

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Brenda Cline Greene, one daughter, Cyndi Beane Kincaid and husband Mikeal Kincaid of Boomer and one son, Todd Alan Greene and wife Krystal Greene of Bethlehem; 4 grandchildren; Cody Beane and wife Tori of Asheville, Kaitlin Beane of Wilkesboro, Gabrielle Greene Stamey and husband Nick of Hickory, Madison Greene of Bethlehem; two step grandchildren Erin Kincaid Phipps and Addy Kincaid Schroeder; and two great grandchildren Aubrey and Ryker Beane.
