Archie Bentley

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Archie Virgil Bentley, age 87, of Lenoir, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born March 8, 1929 in Caldwell County, Archie was a son of the late Victor and Jessie Small Bentley. He had worked in furniture industry for many years. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He will also be remembered as a nature lover and for making his own wine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Tommy and Arey. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sue Settlemyre Bentley of the Home; his children, Donald Ray Bentley, Jerry Wayne Bentley, Sharon Bentley Moore, and Linda Bentley Moretz (husband Paul) all from Lenoir; three sisters, Shirley Melton, Maggie Johnson and Charlotte Shumate; a brother, Ransom Bentley; two grandchildren, Jason Lee Pritchard and Cynthia Beth Hernandez; three great grandchildren, Taylor Sierra Kirby, Nicole Isabella Matamoros and Ariana Danielle Hernandez; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. A private graveside service will take place at a later time.
