Annie Phillips Sain

Blowing Rock, NC- Mrs. Annie Phillips Sain, age 94, of Blowing Rock, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Blowing Rock Hospital. Born May 8, 1917 in Jackson County, Georgia, Annie was a daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” Phillips Sr. and Estelle Potter Phillips. Annie had worked for Broughton Hospital and also spent time volunteering for different events. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Fred Sain; two brothers, Marvin Phillips and Nathaniel Phillips; and one sister, Doris Phillips. Survivors include her daughter, Anne Early of Gamewell; one brother and sister in law, Joe Phillips, Jr. and his wife, Ruby, of Lawndale; two grandchildren Eric and Judy Early of Maiden, and Amy and Eddie Townsend of Deep Gap; three great grandchildren, Melissa Early, William Early and Brahm Townsend; Annie is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Annie’s life will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lenoir with Dr. David Smith and Dr. Ed Yount officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Burke Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Townsend, Chris Wilmoth, Ray Sain, Evan Lail, Jacob Jarrett, and Doc Seagle.
