Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Annie Mae Atwood Franklin, age 82, of Lenoir, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born February 11, 1927 in Wilkes County, Mrs. Franklin was a daughter of the late William and Leona Hamby Atwood and the wife of the late Edward Bruce Franklin.Mrs. Franklin had worked for Thomasville Furniture and was of the Baptist faith. Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Cordia Benge, Ruth Huffman and Ola Mae Murrow. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara King of Sawmills; Patricia Storie and husband Larry of Hudson; Pamela Beane and husband Robert of Granite Falls; one son, Eddie D. Franklin and wife Vicki of Lenoir; two sisters, Ruby Fox of Portsmouth, VA; Francis Paysour of Hudson; 6 grandchildren, Brian King, Willie Storie, Keesha Franklin, Annie Deal and husband William, Justin Haas, Brandon Beane and 4 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Breanna, Peyton and Ava. A celebration of Mrs. Franklin̢۪s life will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 13, 2009 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Geoff Day officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Monday, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be: Larry Storie, Willie Storie, Robbie Beane, Justin Haas, William Deal and Matt Gragg.
