Andrew David Treffs

January 29, 1952 — November 28, 2022

Andrew David Treffs, 70, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on November 28, 2022, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina. Andrew was born on January 29, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph Treffs and Theresa Szinyei. Andrew is survived by his children, Amanda Johnson, Damian Treffs, and Dawn Ryder, his grandchildren, Thanasi Grizis, Andreas Grizis, Adriana Treffs, Anastasia Ryder, Simon Beard, Asher Beard, and Ophelia Beard, his great-grandson, Andreas Grizis, and his siblings, Joseph Treffs and Elaine Zeitlin. Andrew was a lover of music, the outdoors, and his family. He passed on his love of music to his children and grandchildren and found joy in sharing the music and artists that touched his soul. At various times in his life, Andrew enjoyed hunting and animal calling, and more extreme hobbies such as hand gliding and skydiving. He was a fixer of everything, and to the amusement of everyone, that typically consisted of bungee cords, electrical tape, and random materials he found useful! Andrew loved his children and grandchildren dearly and felt great pride in their successes. It was not uncommon to see mementos of those successes throughout his home, whether that was his grandson’s pilot certificate or his daughter’s honor roll from years past. It is an understatement to say that he will be missed. Andrew’s family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital (EIN 62-0646012).
