Amy Elizabeth Taggart

September 4, 1956 — November 12, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Amy Elizabeth McAllen Taggart, who left this earth on November 12, 2024 at the age of 68.

Born on September 4, 1956, Amy was a devoted wife for 49 years to her husband, Michael, and a loving mother to their three children, Lauren, Jonathan, and Elizabeth. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy of eight grandchildren, Anna, Riley, Olivia, Sydney, Jackson, Ethan, Owen, and Jensen, each of whom she loved dearly and whose lives she touched with her loving kindness and unwavering support.

Amy was a true servant of the Lenoir community, always putting others before herself. Whether volunteering at events, working for Habitat for Humanity, Yokefellow, and Kiwanis Club, or offering a hand to someone in need, she embodied the spirit of generosity and compassion. Her faith and love of family were the cornerstones of her life, and she instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of kindness, resilience, and the value of community. Her legacy of unconditional love, selflessness, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Amy is survived by her husband Michael Taggart, daughter Lauren McCrarey (Kevin), son Jonathan Taggart, and daughter Elizabeth Walker (Philip). She has eight grandchildren, Anna Hatcher, Riley Luchansky (Jake), Olivia Hatcher, Sydney McCrarey, Jackson Taggart, Ethan Walker, Owen Walker, and Jensen Taggart. She is also remembered by her sisters, Carla Schwartz (Bob), Linda McDonald, Susan Wyatt (Rick), and Debra Nail (Wayne), along with nieces, nephews, and countless community friends who will forever treasure the time they spent with her.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Helen and Milton McAllen.

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

A service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Lower Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM and the service will begin at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.
