Alvin Walsh Triplett, aka “Tripp”, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Shaire Center. He was born in Wilkes County on June 20, 1921 to the late Ralph Triplett and Suzanne Walsh Triplett. Alvin was a veteran of the United States Air Force. When he was 93 he entered Shaire Center for rehabilitation and while there he began his ministry of sharing Jesus and Werther’s Original candy to all the staff and residents. With each piece came his words of “Glory to God”. His 1953 Chevy truck was his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.C. Triplett; Ralph “Junior” Triplett; sister, Maude Young; and half-sister, Becky Bentley.
Alvin is survived by his sons, Byron Triplett and wife, Pam; Bobby Triplett and wife, Teresa; daughter, Lenita Pope and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Jason Triplett and wife, Nicole; Todd Triplett and wife, Wendy; Jennifer Taylor and husband, Jody; Amy Triplett and Jeff Younce; Nichole Watters and husband, Chris; Ethan Pope and wife, Emily; Austin Pope and fiancée, Christina Borzichella; 12 great-grandchildren; half-brothers, Gary Triplett and Jonie Triplett; half-sister, Lynn Martin; numerous other family members and too many friends to name.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church, 4416 Calico Road, Lenoir, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Daniel Buchanan officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Dry Ponds Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Shaire Center and Amorem for the excellent care given to Alvin.
