Alton Barry Pritchard

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Alton Barry Pritchard, age 69, of Lenoir, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born July 17, 1941, in Caldwell County, Mr. Pritchard was the son of the late Arlie Bright Pritchard and Katherine Lutz Pritchard. Mr. Pritchard was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church and was a resident of Camelot Manor Nursing and Rehab Facility in Granite Falls. A graduate of Collettsville High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force, he enjoyed painting as a hobby. He is survived by one son, Scott Pritchard and wife Jenny of Asheville; one daughter, Roberta Cox and husband Roy of Newton; one sister, Anita Bolick of Lenoir; one brother, Jerry Pritchard and wife Jan of Hudson; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty June Pritchard, Georgia Ellis, and Nina Clark, one brother, Doyle Pritchard, and two infant brothers Neal Pritchard and Eugene Pritchard. Graveside military rites will be held for Mr. Pritchard at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Confidence Advent Christian Church off the Abington Road in Lenoir. The Reverend Roger Byrd, minister of Cabarrus Christian Fellowship, will officiate. Special music will be provided by Mark and Belita Miller. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir from 1-2 p.m. prior to the gravesite rites on Friday. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Jerry and Jan Pritchard, 895 Pine Mountain Road in Hudson. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Henson, Michael McKinney, Greg Scragg, Henry Rishkofski, Shawn Crowder, Eddie Dye, and Daniel Bowman. Memorials may be made to Confidence Advent Christian Church at 4040 Confidence Church Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
