Alma Georgie Hamby

Lenoir – Mrs. Alma Georgie Greene Hamby, age 87, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson.Born November 19, 1927 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late Jerome Walter and Channie Elizabeth Eller Greene and the wife of the late Dallas Hardin Hamby. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Roger Dail Hamby, Larry Wayne Hamby, Timothy Ray Hamby, and two grandchildren, Shannon Brian Hamby and Lindsay Elizabeth Coffey. She is survived by a daughter, Diane Hamby of Rutherford College; five sons, David Hamby of Lenoir; Thomas H. Hamby and wife Margaret of Granite Falls; Benny Dallas Hamby and wife Kathy of Granite Falls; Jimmy Dean Hamby and wife Kim of Lenoir and Terry Hamby of Lenoir.She is also survived by her sister, Bertha Shirley of Deep Gap; 14 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Sam Craven officiating.Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
