Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Alice McLean Barnette, age 93, of Lenoir passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born March 30, 1923 in Caldwell County, Alice was a daughter of the late Frank and Mollie Collinsworth McLean. She was Baptist by faith and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening, especially her flowers and tomatoes. She also enjoyed taking trips and volunteering at Caldwell Hospice and the Koinonia Apartments. She was also a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Barnette; two daughters, Marie Woods and Carole Fox; a sister, Janie McLean; and three brothers, Hade, Hardy, and Boyd McLean. Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Foster, husband Fredrick, of Lenoir, Shirley Hargus, husband Larry, of Hudson, and Susan Setzer, husband Alex, of Newbern, NC; a brother, Fred McLean, wife Peggy, of Hudson; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and other relatives. A celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sam Craven officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Belleview Cemetery in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O.
