Alfred "Poppy" Hood

Lenoir – Alfred Vance Hood “Poppy”, age 71, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. His suffering shall be no more as he’s reached his heavenly home. We were blessed to have Poppy for 71 beloved years. He was an amazing man who was a devout Christian and put his total faith in the Lord. He knew this world was only temporary and he longed to be with Jesus. Aside from the Lord, his family meant the most to him. He was currently retired and his hobbies included, being an active member of Word in Truth Ministries Church, serving the Lord, reading his Bible, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He loved his wife of 46 years, Cathy, his two children, Paul and girlfriend, Whitney; Debra Oaks and husband, Allen; granddaughters, Chelsea Maxon and husband, David, Kaitlyn, Brianna, Elyn, Finley and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Sue and numerous nieces, nephews and family. Poppy was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bernice; daughter, Trisha Hood; brothers, Bobby and Jimmy; and his sister, Violet. Surviving are his brothers, Daniel and Joe and his sister, Mildred Smith. A celebration of Poppy’s life will be held at Word in Truth Ministries Church on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Bentley, Reverend Danny Carr and Reverend Clint Coffey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cathy Hood at Word in Truth Ministries Church, P.O. Box 1801, Lenoir, NC28645.
